Spring Tractor Tune Up
A year's worth of mowing can seriously affect the performance of your lawn tractor. To avoid costly repairs as your tractor gets older, it makes sense to have it professionally serviced. Winter is a tough time of year for power equipment. Many problems arise due to winter storage, and the worst part is, you will not find out until it's time for that first cut. Let's look at some of the issues below.
Stale Fuel
Fuel is one of the biggest issues when it comes to winter storage. Gasoline has experienced an increase in ethanol percentage. For your cars that you run all year, that fuel is fine, but things change for your tractor that hasn't been started in a few months. The increased ethanol causes fuel to go stale quicker, which will ruin your carburetor and in worst cases, will leave your tractor stranded in the shed. Needing to replace a carburetor can be a very costly repair!
Benedict's Home and Garden's Spring Tuneup will replace all stale fuel with fresh, stabilized fuel to run safetly in your tractor/mower, in addition with checking for any fuel/oil leaks.
Battery Goes Dead
When storing your unit in for the winter, did you take the battery inside your house and store it in a warm, dry place off the ground? If you didn't, you might have some trouble starting your power equipment this spring. Batteries in your tractor and mower are just like the ones in your phone - they HATE the cold! Batteries, like carburetors, can be costly to replace.
Our Spring Tuneup includes charging your battery. In many cases, we may find that your battery does not hold its charge, and will contact you to find the best solution.
Other General Issues
Constantly using your tractor or mower throughout the warm seasons causes real wear and tear on your equipment (and we know power equipment isn't cheap!). All units should receive an oil change at least once a year or more based on the size of your yard. As you work, your air filter may get clogged with grass clippings and dust as well, while your blades may get dull. Other parts may be worn down and close to the end of their life, and in most cases, it is more cost effective to detect the problems BEFORE they occur. Below is a full list of what is included in our service special:
Replacement of worn belts, blades, carb rebuilds, safety switches, and other parts are not included in the tune-up charge, and may require additional labor. Internal engine and/or carburetor work is extra. If additional parts and work are necessary we will contact you with an estimated cost. Preventative Maintenance saves you down time and reduces future repair costs!
